A chipped windscreen could crack at any time – and often its when you least expect it. That’s why it’s important to repair a windscreen chip as soon as you spot it. Windscreen repair is a cheap but effective alternative to replacing damaged windscreens.
A windscreen repair is accomplished by injecting a specially formulated resin into the damaged area. The resin is then cured using a UV lamp and polished to restore structural strength and clarity to the glass.
Holt Windscreens technicians will always try to repair your existing windscreen before replacing it with a new one, usually saving you both time and money but, in some cases, your vehicle glass will be beyond repair. Sometimes though, the type, size and position of the damage will mean that a repair is not possible and also the damaged area is full of moisture and contaminated meaning you will need a windscreen replacement. Stone chip repairs are not guaranteed to repair and can have a chance of cracking while in the process of the repair meaning the technician will not be liable for the windscreens having to be replaced or damaged and having glass distortion after the process of the repair. All stone-chip repairs are not 100% invisible they are all visible after the repair.
